Reaching Out to Our Community and the World

Through the years, Saint Mark's Episcopal School has recognized and responded to the needs of others.  We encourage and teach our students to look beyond themselves to realize their responsibilities as good citizens and stewards of their world.

This is achieved in a variety of ways.  Over time, the entire Saint Mark's community - church, school, and preschool - have participated in outreach programs to help support others.  Students, families, faculty and staff bring food each Wednesday for the Foothill Family Shelter; donations are made to the House of Ruth, Shoes that Fit, the American Cancer Society, and other organizations.

One effort, in particular, has captured the hearts and minds of the entire Parish:  Saint Andre's School in Haiti.  The students and families of Saint Mark's School and the wider Parish community have supported the efforts of this small rural site in the country of Haiti to develop and maintain a school for their children.  Serena Beeks, the founding Head of Saint Mark's School, has been instrumental in establishing this connection for us and in continuing our involvement.  Our students organize fundraising events throughout each year, and Mrs. Beeks takes the monies and other much neeeded items on her trips to visit St. Andre's.  She brings back pictures and information on the progress being mde, so that our students can witness the power of love and service for the good of others.
